As a requirement for our performing artists, in addition to performing at our free concert series, educational outreach programs are created and selected to be offered either in residencies or in concerts, classes, mini-workshops, and collaborations with students during the extended stay of the artists.  The subject matter for these educational outreach activities is selected based on the expertise and desires of the performers as well as on the needs and expectations of the students they will serve.

Our award winning educational outreach programs enhance the quality of life of children throughout the city, while educating them and introducing them to world-renowned performers.

These programs target Title One and underserved schools, bringing these children into contact with professional musicians they would never encounter.  Our programs give children the opportunity to not only appreciate great music and musicians, but also interact with them.  BFAS creates study guides and workbooks for some programs and provides them to every child in advance of the event.

Prior to contracting with an artist, Beaches Fine Arts Series ascertains the artist will be enthusiastic about working with students. Some artists are not as comfortable working with young children, or may be better suited to conduct advanced master classes.

Our objective is to offer outreach activities that reach all ages during a particular season. This season’s outreach programs will include three programs targeting elementary school children; three targeting college aged and advanced high school music students; one targeting middle school students, and two events for after school programs, including Cathedral Arts Project, Don’t Miss A Beat, and The Carpenter’s Shop.  Through these outreach activities we anticipate that we will reach over 4000 students.
