The Artist
Two magical experiences in Drew’s young life – both in 1958 – were instrumental in his becoming the artistic creativist he is today. His mom took him to see a re-issue of Walt Disney’s animation masterpiece, Fantasia, which ignited his lifelong fascination with art, design, color, storytelling, and music. That same year, he visited Disneyland in California for the first time, where he experienced the power of immersive-themed entertainment. All of that – coupled with his own artistic abilities already well in development – formed the basis of his life devoted to creative enterprises.
In the decades to come Drew frequently exhibited his art, was involved in all aspects of live theater, painted murals, designed wax museums and other unique attractions, studied art & architecture in Rome, had his own company which designed Halloween and haunted events, and – during his college years – portrayed Bozo the Clown for an ABC affiliate station in his hometown.
Drew has worked at Sally Dark Rides in Jacksonville for almost 30 years where he is the VP Creative Design. He lives in a 1903 house – aka The Drewseum – in the Springfield historic district where he maintains his art and creative studio. Theda B, Greta G, Splotchkit and Dark Ride are his four furry feline friends who keep him company as he creates.
