THE FALCONAIRES

Visual Artist: LuAnn Dunkinson

ST. PAUL’S BY-THE-SEA EPISCOPAL CHURCH

The only musical ensemble which can genuinely trace its heritage back to the American military band is the big band, made popular by its mainstream appeal during WWII. A unique and historic component to the heritage of The United States Air Force Academy, the Falconaires have brought the great sounds of big band to international audiences for over 50 years. UNF Jazz Ensemble 1 joins them in this unique concert.

THE ARTISTS

“Highly respected in the jazz and jazz education community, the “Falcs” reinforce America’s connection to jazz—“America’s classical music”.
(Billy Taylor)

The professional Airmen-musicians in the Falconaires follow a long blue line of talented Air Force Academy bandsmen, dedicated to serving our great nation.

We represent the young men and women at the United States Air Force Academy training to be officers of character who will lead our Air Force and Space Force. It is also our distinct privilege to support our veterans and all men and women currently serving around the globe, protecting the freedoms we all enjoy.

These selfless Americans allow us to share the music and remarkable talents of the Falconaires. The versatility and professionalism of this unique ensemble reflect the great diversity and ingenuity that makes the United States Air Force the greatest air force the world has ever known.

The Air Force Academy Band’s Falconaires play a major role in cultivating our national heritage through America’s foremost indigenous musical genre: jazz!

The Falconaires appear by arrangement with the United States Air Force Academy Band.
