About the Artist
Pat Mahoney is an artist and art restorer/conservator residing in Orange Park, Florida. Educated at the University of North Florida, this artist has cultivated a love for rendering scenes of tranquility. He has been creating beautifully hued and meticulously detailed landscapers and still lifes in oil on canvas since 1965. Pat is now one of North Florida’s most successful representational artists. Although he is firmly dedicated to the style of realism, Pat’s work is consistently infused with subtle undercurrents of emotion.
From the artist
I have lived in the Jacksonville area since 1962. I started painting in a representational style in oil on canvas in 1965. I majored in Art studying at FSCJ (then FJC) and at UNF. As an alumnus of FJC, I was asked to do a One Man Show displaying a retrospective of my work. I was also chosen to show my work at the Cummer Museum and Jacksonville Art Mania.
I was privately instructed in painting by Howard Ahrens a past Professor at Jacksonville University. I was also instructed in drawing and printmaking by Mark Howard a past instructor at FSCJ and took Plein Air Painting at UNF with Paul Ladnier. On three separate occasions the Florida Times Union has published articles about my work as an artist and an art restorer.
I worked for thirty years as an Illustrator and Graphic Artist at NAS Jacksonville. I have been commissioned numerous times over the years.
I have actively painted at the Arboretum in every Brush With Nature event. I am an active member of First Coast Plein Air Painters, First Coast Pastel Society, and Jacksonville Coalition for the Visual Art and have won numerous awards from these groups.
I have participated in workshops with Marc Hanson, Larry Moore, Morgan Samuel Price, Ken Dewaard, Phil Sandusky and Kevin Arthur.
