What a great week of residencies with the UNF Jazz Ensemble 1 and the UNF Orchestra with Richard Stoltzman and Allen Vizzutti! This is a concert not to be missed, a tribute to Woody Herman along with wonderful selections from Porgy and Bess (Gershwin) and West Side Story (Bernstein). The UNF musicians are simply outstanding, and our guest artists are amazing! BFAS is excited to continue our long-standing collaboration with the UNF School of Music and their Great American Jazz Series, celebrating our 45th season and their 30th in a grand concert at Lazzara Hall. Join us to hear Grammy-winning clarinetist Richard Stoltzman and wonderful trumpeter Allen Vizzutti with the UNF Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble 1 in a Tribute to Woody Herman on March 16 at 7:30 pm in the UNF Fine Arts Center. This concert will be the final event in a week-long residency for the two famed artists, working with the talented musicians at UNF. It is sure to be the event of the season, and it is offered to everyone FREE of charge! Doors open at 7:00 pm. See you there!
Beaches Fine Arts is excited to present a fabulous young nonet, FRISSON, in our free concert on February 25 at 4:00 pm. Currently in their inaugural US tour, the nine member ensemble of wind and string players from the country’s most prestigious conservatories will perform rarely heard works for nonets, quintets, and quartets, led by oboist Tom Gallant. Join us for this fabulous chamber ensemble event, followed by a reception with art exhibit by Raquel Tripp, hosted by Oceanside Rotary Club. Doors open at 3:15 for the 4:00 pm concert.
Join us to hear this fabulous young chamber ensemble, FRISSON, in their inaugural tour! This 9 piece chamber orchestra of strings and winds, led by director and oboist Tom Gallant, will perform their concert in varying configurations, including Nonet #2 by Bohuslav Martinů.
This free concert will be held on Sunday, February 25 at 4:00 pm with doors opening at 3:15 pm at St. Paul’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church. The concert has been chosen to be recorded for national broadcast on Performance Today.
A reception follows, hosted by Oceanside Rotary Club.
